Blueberry bushes at the farm are covered in sweet berries that almost fall off the bush into my waiting container (ka-plink, ka-plank, ka-plunk).

Known as the sapphire superfood, blueberries are high in vitamin C, antioxidants and fiber, and low in calories. Blueberries are native plants and their berries (leaves, roots) have been used for medicinal purposes. Interesting factoid – the blossom end of each berry forms the shape of a five-pointed star.

What to do with three pints of blueberries in the refrigerator? Blueberry ice cream? On this hot, humid day, blueberry basil ginger lemonade (recipe here) was in order. A perfect accompaniment to a bowl of blueberries with a bit of crème fraîche.
