How many trees has Wangari Maathai helped women plant across Africa? Would you believe 40 million?

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr Wangari Maathai will be part of a discussion following the screening of the documentary film “Taking Root” at National Geographic on October 6th. “Taking Root” tells the story of Dr Maathai and how she founded the Green Belt Movement in Kenya which works to preserve the environment by planting indigenous trees while promoting individual and community empowerment.
